These Ain’t the Same Grains! – video version

by Sean Croxton

Here I go hating on grains again!

Last month, I posted the written version of this one. You can read it HERE.

Today, as I flipped through Dr. William Davis’ ridiculously awesome (and funny) book Wheat Belly for the 80 billionth time, I got the itch to post this video version.

Be sure to send this to all of your friends who swear by the virtues of whole wheat, and those who assume that the grains we eat today are the same ones consumed during Biblical times.

Oh, how things have changed.

By the way, thanks for the birthday love yesterday. You guys rock!

Later.

Happy Birthday to Me! Coconut Haystacks Recipe!

by Sean Croxton & Allyson the Assistant

Have I ever told you how much I love my assistant?

If not, she totally rocks!!

Since it’s my 34th birthday, we figured we’d keep the yearly tradition going and hook up a fairly healthy dessert recipe for you.

This year’s birthday treat is Coconut Haystacks, a recipe provided by Stephanie Obregozo of Freebird Fitness for The Underground Cookbook, the special bonus you receive when you order The Dark Side of Fat Loss.

Oh, by the way, the DSFL is ON SALE today only for just $29 (that’s $10 off) through this special link.

This deal ends TONIGHT at 11:59pm Pacific Time.

After today’s video shoot, I think Allyson needs to be on camera more often. The girl’s got style and LOTS of personality. What do you think?

Click the video below and make this tasty, raw recipe at home. It’s simple, easy, and darn good.

I’m out! Gonna enjoy the rest of my big day.

You do the same!

Is Caloric Restriction Necessary for Longevity?

by Sean Croxton

A few nights ago, Donna Gates, author of The Baby Boomer Diet, came on UW Radio wielding nothing but anti-aging truth bombs.

We spoke a lot about digestion and the importance of adding fermented foods to our diet. We also talked about reproduction, A1 and A2 milk, the reasons WHY we age, and the fascinating concepts of jing and chi.

If you missed the show, click HERE!

In this clip, I ask her about the science on caloric restriction, which shows that reducing the amount of calories fed to mammals increases their lifespan.

This sounds cool and all BUT cutting calories also sounds like a drag! It scores a zero on the fun meter.

Who wants to eat rabbit food and be hungry all day?

So, Donna tells us how we can use diet to mimic the effects of caloric restriction.

Pretty cool stuff!

Later!

Grow Your Own #6: Strategy Session

by Sean Croxton

We screwed up.

Being the gardening rookie that I so obviously am, I have no idea what I’m doing.

Our spinach never grew. The tomatoes plant is starving. We put the fertilizer in the wrong spot — we were supposed to mix it throughout the bed.

Whoops.

Plants need to be able to access their food, Sean! Duh.

To help Kirk and I save our garden, Shawn Studer of Natural Living Source returns to the show to tell us all about how worm poop (otherwise known as castings) will help us bring our garden back to life.

Shawn also gives us some watering tips and discusses the importance of using mulch, liquid molasses, and seaweed extract.

Who knew?

Check out the video below as we come with a solution for our BIG mistakes.

Friday Fun Day Workout: The Slackline!

by Sean Croxton & Trevor Dye

Happy Friday, my friends!

So, I have always been really curious about how good (or bad) I would be at slacklining.

Well, I certainly found out yesterday as I made my first attempt at walking the tightrope.

That stuff is hard!

To make sure I didn’t fall and break my neck I met up with slackline expert Trevor Dye of Yoga For Posers and Hale Holistic. I’m glad he was there to spot me and show me the ropes!

No, we’re not in the gym getting our fitness on as we usually do on Fridays. Instead, we’re playing! More people need to go outside and play.

Try this out. It’s a little scary at first but it’s quite the challenge. And to be honest, I’m kinda addicted. I can’t wait to do it again.

Safety first. Be sure to have a spotter.

Have an awesome Halloween weekend! Don’t eat too much candy!
