Why I LOVE My Mom.

photoby Sean Croxton

I love my Mom.

If I listed all the reasons why I so immensely adore her, this post would get pretty darn long.

But the short story I’d like to share with you today is a testament to why she’s my favorite person in the whole wide world.

Here goes…

Last year, Mom was especially excited about her Christmas gift for me. In fact, she bought it early in the year and had to restrain herself from giving it to me before the holiday.

When the time came to gather around the tree and open up our presents, she watched intently as I unwrapped this “extra special” gift.

I opened the tin case and found a beautiful, gold watch.

But this wasn’t your ordinary watch.

This watch had no hands. No numbers. No hours. No seconds. Nothing. Just a gold face.

At first I didn’t get it. How am supposed to tell time with this, Mom?

Then she asked me to read the back of the case. Here’s what it said…

What Is Time to You?

Time is important to all of us in so many different ways. We keep track of it, we spend it, we never know how much of it we have left.

The wristwatch was invented in the mid-1700s and since then focused solely on functionality. Until now…

Imagine a piece of jewelry that symbolized something, the idea that when you’re dedicated to what you love, time then becomes irrelevant.

The Infinity Piece was created to be a reminder that you can never spend too much time on the things you’re passionate about, and that’s something that applies to everyone.

That’s my Mama.

She never pushed me to be anything I didn’t want to be or to do anything I didn’t want to do. (Well, expect for chores.)

She just wanted me to be happy.

So when her son said he was going to make a living by making YouTube videos, hosting podcasts, and writing blog posts to help improve people’s lives, not once did she ever call it “silly” or ask me to get a “real job”.

Instead, she supported me without condition, encouraging me to follow my dreams.

And now, just under six years removed from truly committing myself to this “unconventional” calling, I’m writing you this blog post from the deck of my amazing new home overlooking the valley and with a glimpse of the ocean off in the distance.

Wearing Mom’s gift.

Without a care for what time it is.

Doing what I’m passionate about.

Thanks, Mom.

Her love and support is the most precious gift of all.

I can honestly say that I’m living the life of my dreams. But not without your support and the help of the most amazing people who have helped me along the way.

Today I’d like to introduce you to someone who can help YOU turn your “silly ideas” into a life and career that you love, starting RIGHT NOW.

I’ve been watching Marie Forleo’s online TV show for about 3 years — way before Oprah got hip to her.

Every time I watch one of her expert interviews or “Q&A Tuesday” videos, I have a lightbulb moment about how I can more effectively impact the lives of others.

If you’re ready to step outside of the box and take the leap into a life you totally love living, Marie put together this free video training series, just for you.

Here’s what you’ll learn..

* Why nice people with big hearts (hmm, does that sound like you?) are wired to succeed in the digital era.

* Timing is Everything: In the next decade, over 5 billion new people will be coming online. Many will be looking for solutions to problems YOU can solve. Find out why you should get in now.

* What you must know, what you must understand, and the sequence you have to follow if you want to use this really incredible thing we have — called the internet — to do what you love and get paid for it.
