FFD Workout: Build Muscle and Burn Fat with Eccentric Training!

by Sean Croxton & Brett Klika

Yo! What’s Up, Y’all!

Miss me?

Sorry for the long delay between posts. We’re still grinding away on the Real Food Summit, which launches in exactly one month! I’m pretty pumped about it. If you haven’t heard, this summit will feature LIVE daily Q&A sessions on UW Radio. I’m still figuring out the schedule, but our day one presenters will be Joel Salatin, Chris Kresser, and David Getoff. The lineup is LOADED. Stay tuned.

So, I asked you guys on Facebook a couple weeks ago what kind of workout video you wanted Brett and I to shoot. The overwhelming response was for us to do one on eccentric training, a style of training that Jonathan Bailor — author of The Smarter Science of Slim — and I chatted about on THIS RADIO SHOW.

According to Jonathan’s research, eccentric training is the BEST way to build muscle and lose fat. Interestingly enough, not many of us are doing it.

FFD Workout: The Slosh Pipe!

by Sean Croxton & Tony Lewis

I love traveling.

Last week, I had the good fortune of having the opportunity to see the sights in Washington, DC and to hang out in Gainesville, VA with my main man Tony Lewis of Designer Fitness and Wellness Center.

Tony was celebrating the 10th Anniversary of his awesome facility. We partied with his clients and, of course, we got our fitness on!

In today’s Friday Fun Day episode, I get a crash course in slosh piping.

What’s a slosh pipe? Well, it’s a PVC pipe with about 25 pounds (or more) of water in it. It seriously challenged my balance and core strength. MUCH harder than it looks. Trust me.

Slosh pipes are super cheap to put together. Looking forward to having a few of my own.

Check out the video below! Lemme know what you think.

Oh! And be sure to check out last night’s UW Radio broadcast with our favorite fats and oils expert Dr. Bruce Fife. Click HERE to learn all about The Coconut Oil Miracle. Allyson is working on a video clip. We’ll have it up shortly.

Out.

The 2-Minute (actually 5-Minute) Pilates Challenge!

Yo! What’s up, y’all!

Busy, busy day! I’m going to have to figure out a way to incorporate writing my e-book into my schedule. Been a little flustered the last two days trying to squeeze everything in.

I’ll figure it out!!

There may be a little less writing going on here for the next 3-4 weeks, but I’ll certainly be uploading videos for your viewing pleasure.

Today, Allyson the Assistant and I headed over to Fitness Quest 10 and shot some great Inspire Millions videos. We covered yoga, motivation, stretching, low back pain, and core. Today’s installment is a Pilates challenge that you can definitely do just about anywhere.

Yeah, it was supposed to be 2 minutes, but an extra 3 minutes will only make you stronger!

Check out the video below. Stephanie had my arms shaking and abs burning!

Don’t forget to LIKE our Facebook pages at:

Once this blog gets 100 LIKEs or Facebook shares, I’ll post another challenge!

I’m going to spend some more time reading The Organic Manifesto tonight and possibly blog about it tomorrow. I figure if I’m going to teach you about Real Food, I should start by learning about Real Soil!

See you next time!!

FFD Workout: I Want the Juice!!!

by Sean Croxton & Kirk Hensler

What a week!

This has definitely been the most productive week I’ve had in a long time. So sad to see it end.

BUT it’s time to take a break and have some FUN!

Today, we’re kicking off the weekend with another Friday Fun Day workout.

Personal trainer, martial artist, and organic farmer, Kirk Hensler of Hale Holistic makes his Underground Wellness debut as he puts me through this grueling 4-minute challenge.

Definitely the longest 4 minutes of my life!

Let’s see what you got! Here are the movements.

* 10 Jumping Jacks
* 10 Push Ups
* 10 Squats
* 10 High/Low Planks

See how many times you can go through the circuit in 4 minutes. The first round is easy, but don’t be fooled. It gets harder!

Be sure to watch the entire video. Kirk and I have a yummy organic treat for you.

Keep your eyes peeled for our upcoming Grow Your Own organic gardening video series. Kirk and I are going to show YOU step-by-step how to grow your own food. Audience participation is highly encouraged!

Check out Hale Holistic on Facebook.

And be sure to download last night’s UW Radio show to learn the facts about osteoporosis. Another great show!

Happy Friday!

See you next week.

FFD Workout: Another Two-Minute Challenge!

by Sean Croxton

Brett Klika and I kick off the Inspire Millions project with this super-creative 2-minute challenge that anyone can do at home.

All you’ll need is a sports cord (you probably have one laying around the house), a few books, and 120 seconds of free time!

Brett and I have a goal of impacting 1,000,000 people around the world, encouraging them to eat, think, move, and live well. Please help us out by sending this blog/video to a friend.

As much as we’d love to touch a million people overnight, we’re all about baby steps! We need your help getting 5000 views. Once we get ‘em, we’ll post the next challenge. It might be tomorrow. Maybe next week. It’s really up to YOU!

Let’s Inspire Millions together!

Here’s today’s Friday Fun Day workout:

1. Reverse Lunges with Resisted Retractions – 40 seconds
2. Book Agility – 20 seconds
3. Resisted Wood Chops – 20 seconds each side
4. Surfers – 20 seconds

Get off your butt RIGHT NOW, clear out a few feet of space, and get cracking with this two-minutes of fun and fitness!

Tell us how you did! Or get it on video and post it on our Facebook pages:

The Inspire Millions Challenge!

by Brett Klika
www.brettklika.com

Americans are no longer chubby, portly, or overweight.

We are corpulent, obese, and rotund. We don’t move like humans are supposed to move.

We don’t eat like humans are supposed to eat. We are not just merely dying from this plight, we are suffering.

What would happen to a Cheetah if we fed it Cheetos and made it sit idle? It would get sick, it would get depressed It would develop pain, and die.

Why? Because Cheetos are not what Cheetahs are supposed to eat, and sitting idle is not what cheetahs are supposed to do.

As cruel as the above treatment may seem to an animal, many Americans live, embrace, and defend their “right” to this scenario. After all, there is a robust, nearly unchallenged industrial machine to support it. Unchallenged, until now.

This is a call to action.

A much higher calling than sculpting a six-pack, toning thighs, selling gym memberships or slinging miracle supplements.

It’s a call for our society to lift each other up off the couch and move.

It is a call to educate each other to eat food instead of chemicals.

It is a call to INSPIRE MILLIONS to stop suffering and live like humans are designed to live.

You don’t have to be a personal trainer, life coach, or physician to grab a loved one’s hand and say “let’s go for a walk”. How do you know if you are walking fast and far enough? When someone no longer needs to pull you off the couch to go for a walk. You don’t have to be a dietician, nutritionist, or chef to select food that is actually “food” and not merely a chemically-induced taste. How do you know what “real food” is? The ingredients list should be the food itself. For meat, well, if you know what the animal’s name was prior to being on your plate, it’s probably safe to eat.

We don’t have to be hot, ripped, toned, shredded, sculpted, or beautiful. We need men, women, and children to get off the couch, stop eating poison, and get out of pain. Everyone can contribute. Do something today, right now to change the way you live or INSPIRE someone else to do the same. It may not happen overnight, it may take time. Person by person, household by household, city by city, state by state.

Working together, we can stand up and INSPIRE MILLIONS to be happy, healthy and pain free. After all, that’s how humans are supposed to live.
